How AdvoConnection Handles
Locations and Patient Searches
Some advocates offer their services in specific locations - usually the local area where they live and work. These are most often services that require one-on-one meetings with patients and caregivers.

Other advocates' services are not location-specific; for example, billing review services may be offered across the US.  Some legal or insurance services may be available in certain states or provinces only.

AdvoConnection handles locations by allowing you to determine the service area you, as the advocate, can serve, either as a specific region, a state or province, or by country.

Like choosing your designated services, you want to be sure you maximize the number of patients or caregivers who find you* in the patient directory. Therefore you will want to maximize your location outreach.
If your services can be performed for anyone located anywhere in either the United States or Canada:
Check the appropriate box.  Any patient or caregiver looking for your services, located anywhere in the country you designate, will find your listing in their results.
If your work is state or province specific (you can help patients located anywhere in your state or province):
Please input your state or province only.  Anyone requesting your service in your state or province will find you in their directory.
If your work is location-specific:
Please input your zip code only.  Patients searching for the services you provide, located within a 100 mile radius of your zip code, will get your listing in their results. You can specify up to two locations on the application form, so if you want a broader result than 100 miles, choose a second zip code that is central to the broader area.  If you have more than two locations, then choose "We have additional, specific locations" and we will work with you to make sure your entire geography is covered.

*What if someone contacts you from an area you don't serve?
You can discuss options with them.  They may be willing to pay for your travel, or you may know of someone in their area who can help them.

Remember -- the key is to have more people contact you, rather than fewer.  Making contact with them helps you both learn more about patient needs, even if you cannot help them directly yourself.
